This specimen was lot 72597 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "HONG KONG. 5 Cents, 1938. London Mint. PCGS MS-63 Gold Shield. A mostly argent example exhibiting some alluring brilliance and luster radiating throughout." This type was struck 1938-39 and replaced a copper-nickel coin of 1935-36.

Recorded mintage: 3,000,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 2.6 g, nickel, 16.5 mm diameter.
