This specimen was lot 72593 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $70. The catalog description[1] noted, "HONG KONG. 10 Cents, 1935. London Mint. PCGS MS-65 Gold Shield. Sharply struck with brilliant fields." This type was struck 1935-36 and replaced a silver coin of 1902-05. The subsequent type struck for George VI was pure nickel, presumably to increase corrosion resistance.
Recorded mintage: 10,000,000 plus proofs.
Specification: 2.6 g, copper-nickel, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge.
