This type was struck 1935-36 for Hong Kong by the Royal Mint. It replaced a silver coin of 1902-05. The subsequent type struck for George VI was pure nickel, presumably to increase corrosion resistance.
Recorded mintage: 5,000,000 plus proofs.
Specification: 2.6 g, copper-nickel, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge.
