SB825-42469r.jpg

This specimen was lot 42469 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $9,000. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Holland. Ducaton (Silver Rider), 1792/1. Dordrecht Mint. PCGS MS-65. Overdate variety. A staggering Gem survivor of this popular "Silver Rider" type, and the only example of this year to be certified in this state by either PCGS or NGC-as well as the only example certified of this SCARCE overdate variety. Luster cascades in swirls across the surfaces, the minute details of the iconic design suffering no detractions from the exceptionally clean argent surfaces. A superb representative of the type and one that would be difficult to best. From the Richard August Collection." The SCWC notes that the regular issues from Holland run 1672-94, 1716-21 and 1734-93.

Recorded mintage: 96,000 for 1790-92.

Specifications: 32.78 g, 0.941 fine silver, 43 mm diameter, obliquely reeded edge.

Catalog reference: Dav-1827; KM-90.2; Delm-1031.
