Utrecht 1792 ducaton Dav-1832
This specimen was lot 30225 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $5,170. The catalog description[1] noted, "Utrecht. Provincial Ducaton (Silver Rider) 1792 MS66 NGC. Broad and incredibly alluring, this substantial Crown displays perfect cabinet patina with gold and coppery highlights that cling to the devices. Further adding to the desirability of this selection is its Gem designation, as well as its status as the finest-known certified example of this date by a significant margin. An altogether superb and well-preserved offering." The SCWC notes that the regular issues from Utrecht run 1672-1793. The reported mintage seems rather low for a date not awarded any premium.
Recorded mintage: 1,060.
Specification: 32.78 g, 0.941 fine silver.
