Holland 1755 duit
This specimen was lot 1287 in Jean Elsen sale 159 (Brussels, June 2024), where it sold for €75 (about US$96 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"NEDERLAND, HOLLAND, Provincie, duit, 1755. Zilveren afslag. Vz/ Klimmende leeuw binnen de Hollandse tuin. Kz/ HOL/LAN/DIA/ 1742. Zeer Fraai. (Netherlands, province of Holland, silver duit of 1755. Obverse: lion rampant left, enclosed in a fence, supporting a pole topped by a Dutch hat; reverse: legend and date. Very fine.)"
This this was struck in copper (KM 80) most years 1702, 1707-23, 1739-42, 1754, 1765-69, 1780, in silver (KM 80a, shown here) most years 1702, 1710, 1717, 1739-63, in gold (KM 80c) 1739, 1749, 1753-55 and 1759. The copper duit is not known for 1755.
