Holland 1741 ducat Fr-250
This specimen was lot 454 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 39 (Winter Park, FL, May 2026), where it sold for $3,360. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS (United), Holland, gold ducat, 1741, unique from this wreck, NGC MS 61 (Shipwreck Blue Label). Choice full details, smooth and lustrous surfaces per the mint, full rims, slightly undulating flan, first and only gold ducat we have ever heard of from this wreck. With certificate HOL/TH/68 from the salvor. Recovered from Hollandia, sunk in 1743 off the Isles of Scilly, southwest of England." The type is recorded from Holland 1702-92; each province of the Netherlands issued its own coins. Holland was the largest and wealthiest part of the United Provinces, now the kingdom of the Netherlands.
