This specimen was lot 24012 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $2,937.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Hannover. Ernst August gold 2 1/2 Taler 1845-B, MS66 PCGS, quite possibly the finest known example of the type with visibly pristine surfaces and vivid color." This type was issued in small quantities 1845-48 along with a gold five (KM 204) and ten thaler (KM 200.3). The last 2½ thaler was struck in 1855.
