This specimen was lot 73615 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. 12 Mariengroschen (1/3 Taler), 1760-IBH. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg II August (George II of Great Britain). PCGS AU-58. This coin offers lustrous argent surfaces warmed by a thin layer of champagne toning. Well-struck, though with some slight softness in the Wild Man's lower torso, and some minor shadowing in the center of the reverse shield opposite the Wild Man figure. Very attractive. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." The 12 mariengroschen was last struck in Hannover in 1715. This one third thaler was struck 1737-60 almost without interruption.
