This specimen was lot 2581 in Sincona sale 83 (Zürich, May 2023), where it sold for 1,100 CHF (about US$1,472 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Calenberg-Hannover, Herzogtum, Georg II. 1727-1760. 1/3 Taler 1754 / 2, Clausthal. Feinsilber. Mit der Münzmeistersignatur IWS. Selten. Feine Patina (Rare, Nicely toned). NGC MS64." This type was struck 1754 only and is rare. A "wild man" one-third thaler also exists for 1754.
