This specimen was lot 55576 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. Taler, 1729-EPH. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg II August (George II of Great Britain). Extremely Fine Details -- Edge Smoothed. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." George II issued seven different thalers in 1729, four with mintmaster initials "EPH". This fairly common wild man thaler, struck 1727-29, has the British arms on the obverse while the very similar Dav-2091 has four shields on the obverse.
