This specimen was lot 74538 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $408. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. 24 Mariengroschen (2/3 Taler), 1709. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg Ludwig (future George I of Great Britain). NGC MS-62. A lovely, well-struck example of this type with satiny lustrous surfaces. Ex: Wolff-Metternich Collection." This scarce type was struck 1698-1711. In 1714, Georg Ludwig ascended the throne of Great Britain and all the Hanoverian coinage was revised to show his new title the next year.
