This specimen was lot 46691 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Hamburg. 3 Mark, 1913-J. Hamburg Mint. PCGS MS-63. From the C. Knox Collection." Hamburg, on the North Sea, was one of three imperial free cities permitted a continued existence under the Empire of 1871; Bremen and Lübeck were the others. This type is common and was struck 1908-14. The Hamburg mint is still in operation, striking coins for the Federal Republic of Germany.
Recorded mintage: 343,200 plus a few proofs.
