This specimen was lot 3423 in Sincona sale 39 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$420 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Hamburg, Hansestadt, 2 Mark 1902 J. Hamburg. Polierte Platte. FDC. NGC PF 64. (free city of Hamburg, two mark of 1902, Hamburg mint. Choice Proof.)"
This type is common and was struck 1892-93, 1896-1914. The Hamburg mint is still in operation, striking coins for the Federal Republic of Germany.
Recorded mintage: 778,880 plus proofs, a common date.
Specification: 11.11 g, 0.900 fine silver, reeded edge, this specimen 11.09 g.
