Papal States 1759Gub baiocco rev Tom Fi.jpg

This type is listed for 1759 only and was struck in Gubbio. The SCWC lists eight different baiocchi from Gubbio for 1759 but doesn't show photos of any of them, leaving identification as an exercise for the student. This one has "CLE XIII PO M" on the obverse with no regnal year and a rope wreath reverse, should be KM-160. The early coinage of the Papal States used an antique monetary system. After 1740, five quattrini = one baiocco; 100 baiocchi = one scudo.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 10.6 g, copper.

Catalog reference: KM 160, Ber-2919.
