Jean Elsen sale 151, lot 1644

This specimen was lot 1644 in Jean Elsen sale 151 (Brussels, June 2022), where it sold for €4,200 (about US$5,247 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALIE, ETATS PONTIFICAUX, Clément XIII (1758-1769), (Carlo Rezzonico), AR doppio zecchino, 1759, an 1, Rome. D/ Ecu du pape dans un cartouche orné, sous les clés et la tiare. R/ SVPRA FIR-MAM PETRAM L'église assise sur une nuée. Très rare. Superbe. (Italy, Papal States, Clement XIII, 1758-69, gold double zecchino of 1759, year 1, Rome mint. Obverse: papal arms in an ornate cartouche; keys and tiara above; reverse: the Church seated on a cloud. Very rare, Extremely Fine.)"

This type was struck 1759 and 1766. Altho not cheap, it is the most common of the double ducats.
