This type was minted in Guatemala in 1893 and is a very rare date. This specimen was lot 13434 in Heritage sale 351 (Long Beach, CA, June 2004), where it sold for $1,380. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic Peso 1893-RG, toned XF, sharp strike on the quetzal. The reverse displays a prominent edge nick at 8 o'clock and a smaller rim bump at 2 o'clock. A very rare date of this elusive type." All the dates between 1878 and 1889 are scarce to rare. Not until 1894 (KM 210) were large quantities of silver pesos issued.

Specification: 25 g, 0.900 fine silver, .723 troy oz ASW.
