This specimen was lot 3461 in Goldberg sale 84 (Los Angeles, January 2015), where it sold for $1,703.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. 5 Pounds, 2010. 2012 Olympics- Runners. Finest grade possible. NGC graded Proof 70 Ultra Cameo." The five pound denomination was frequently used for commemoratives, including KM 1139 (shown here) and KM 1146 thru KM 1157. Each was struck in various metals.
Recorded mintage: 500,000 in copper-nickel plus more in silver plus a few in gold (shown here).
Specification: 28.28 g, copper-nickel (KM 1139), 0.925 fine silver (KM 1139a), 0.917 fine gold (KM 1139b), 38.61 mm diameter.
