This specimen was part of lot 34434 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $1,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain: Elizabeth II 3-Piece NGC-Certified gold Proof "London 2012 Olympics" Set 2010, includes: 1) "Diana" 25 Pounds - PR70 Ultra Cameo, KM 1164; 2) "Mercury" 25 Pounds - PR70 Ultra Cameo, KM 1163; 3) "Neptune" 100 Pounds - PR70 Ultra Cameo, KM 1162. British Royal mint. A fully mirror-like set presented in the original case of issue with accompanying COA #325. AGW 1.465 oz." The Olympics of 2012 was honored by a set of nine gold NCLT's featuring various Roman deities, including Mercury (shown here). As the Olympics have their origin in an ancient Greek festival, we don't know why the Roman names were used.
