This specimen was lot 34036 in Heritage sale 3076 (Long Beach, CA, September 2019), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain: Victoria Proof 1/2 Penny 1868 PR64 Red and Brown PCGS. Quite rare in this near-gem Proof format, the fields taking on an almost merlot hue from light toning." This type was struck 1860-94. It superseded the larger copper half penny heretofore issued.
Recorded mintage: 3,046,000 + proofs, a slightly better date.
