This specimen was lot 34278 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain: Victoria 6 Pence 1868 MS66 PCGS, Royal mint. Die #17. One of the few nearly tone-free examples from the Cambridge Gate Collection (sold by us in February 2016 for hammer of $750), this brilliant example is currently the single finest graded by PCGS, and comes with no noticeable flaws. Ex. Cambridge Gate Collection." This shilling was struck 1838-87 for circulation. This subtype, with die numbers, was issued 1867-78.
Recorded mintage: 1,069,000, a slightly better date.
