This specimen was lot 150 in Schulman auction 385 (Amsterdam, July 2025), where it sold for €320 (about US$453 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain - Sixpence 1870, Silver, VICTORIA 1837-1901 Young head to left. Rev. value within wreath, crown above. Die number 5. Fully lustrous, light toning. Mint." This type was struck 1838-66 in large quantities with a slightly modified obverse continuing until 1887. This subtype, with die numbers, was issued 1867-78.
Recorded mintage: 480,000 plus proofs, a slightly better date.
Specification: 2.82 g, 0.925 fine silver, this specimen 2.85 g.
