This specimen was lot 24314 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $705. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria Sixpence 1871, Young Head, Die #15, MS66 PCGS, technically just about all anyone could want in a tanner of this type, boldly detailed with luster showing strongly under lovely silvery bluish gray toning. One of the nicest ever seen. From The Kairos Collection." This type was struck 1838-66 in large quantities with a slightly modified obverse continuing until 1887.
Recorded mintage: 3,663,000 plus proofs.
