Great Britain 1868 1/3 farthing
This specimen was lot 31054 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria Proof 1/3 Farthing 1868 PR67 Red and Brown PCGS, Royal mint. An unusual denomination of 0.0833 of one penny, this scarce proof boasts the highest certification by two points across both NGC and PCGS. Its unmatched technical grade extends into its eye appeal, the portrait of young Victoria surely cameo-worthy, picked out in a frosty rose-gold against bright coppery fields which show no hints of hairlines nor detracting marks. An overall spectacular offering, unmatched within this denomination, and not one to disappoint." This type was struck 1866-68 and 1876-85 for several of Britain's colonies.
Recorded mintage: 144,000 plus proofs.
