Great Britain 1825 1/2 sovereign Fr-380
This specimen was lot 323 in Sincona sale 75 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 30,000 CHF (about US$36,414 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted, "Grossbritannien | Königreich. George IV. 1820-1830. Proof Half sovereign 1825, London. Laureate head. Sehr selten. NGC PF65 ULTRA CAMEO. Prachtexemplar. (kingdom of Great Britain, George IV, 1820-30, proof half soverign of 1825, London mint. Very rare, Cabinet piece.)" This type is listed for 1826-28 and is very scarce as is the previous bare head type of 1823-25 (KM 689). Half sovereigns would not be minted in large numbers until the 1840's.
