This specimen was lot 20905 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $1,527.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "George IV Halfcrown 1825, Bare Head, Crowned Shield with Crest reverse, MS65 PCGS, a jewel of a coin, the curly haired portrait fully struck, a small area of soft strike at the center of the shield, the luster super smooth and satiny, with rich reddish gold and blue iridescence. One of the best we have seen, period. From The Kairos Collection." This type is recorded for 1824-29 and is scarce in decent (VF or better) condition.
Recorded mintage: 2,259,000 plus proofs.
