This specimen was lot 33067 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $1,440. The catalog description[1] noted, "George III gold 1/2 Sovereign 1818 MS63 NGC. A brilliant example of this desirous piece with frosty devices and soft fields." George III half sovereigns are listed for 1817, 1818 and 1820 with 1817 being the most common. An overdate, 1818/7, is reported.

Recorded mintage: 1,030,000 plus a few proofs.

Specification: 3.99 g, 0.917 fine gold.
