This specimen was lot 24962 in Heritage sale 3032 (Chicago, April 2014), where it sold for $3,055. The catalog description^[1] noted, "George II gold Guinea 1740, MS62 NGC. A lustrous example with minimal striking weakness and haymarking visible on both sides. Very scarce in Mint-State." The guineas of George II come in many varieties and this one, struck 1739-43, is the fourth. All dates are scarce.
