This specimen was lot 74025 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Shilling, ND (1636-39). Charles I. NGC EF-45. Variety with circle around bust, and square-topped reverse shield with no plume above. A generally well detailed example of the type, struck slightly out of round, with dark gray toning throughout." The SCWC lists over forty different undated shillings for Charles I, a side effect of the Civil War. His reign presents the greatest challenge to numismatists.
