This specimen was lot 31194 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2022), where it sold for $9,000. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Unite, ND (1635-36). London Mint; mm: crown. Charles I. PCGS AU-58. Group D, class 2b. Obverse: Crowned and mantled bust left; XX (mark of value) to right; Reverse: Garnished oval coat-of-arms; crown above. Residing at the precipice of Mint State status, this resoundingly enticing gold issue exudes tremendous appeal through its golden-orange color, well centered and well executed strike, and a seemingly imperceptible degree of gentle handling. Assuredly, a premium-quality piece for the grade assigned. From the Mark and Lottie Salton Collection." The unites of Charles I come in many varieties and mintmarks. This one has a crown mintmark and crowned "C" and "R" on the reverse.
