Künker Auction 439, lot 2935

This specimen was lot 2935 in Künker sale 439 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €1,600 (about US$2,201 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DRITTES REICH, 5 Reichsmark 1934 A. Garnisonkirche Potsdam mit Datum. Prachtexemplar. Polierte Platte. Aus der Sammlung Jürgen und Erika Schmidt, Bovenden. Exemplar der Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 387, Osnabrück 2023, Nr. 1314 (dort in US-Plastikholder der NGC mit der Bewertung PF 65 - 3938877-003). (Germany, Third Reich, five mark of 1934, Potsdam Garrison Church with date, proof. Graded NGC PF-65.)"

This type, the first overtly Nazi coin, was struck at all six mints (A, D, E, F, G, J) and was accompanied by a two mark. This five mark was also struck without the commemorative date (KM 83) during 1934-35.

Recorded mintage: 2,168,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 13.88 g, 0.900 fine silver, 29 mm diameter.
