This specimen was lot 4282 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 225 CHF (about US$326 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Genf/Genève, Stadt und Kanton, Taler (Ecu) 1796, Genf. Mit Quadraten und Punkten verzierter Rand. Gutes sehr schön. (Switzerland, canton of Geneva, thaler or écu of 1796, Geneva mint. Edge decorated with squares and dots, good Very Fine.)"
This type was struck during a French-sponsored revolution which toppled the old oligarchy. One thaler was 96 sols.
Recorded mintage: 12,000.
