Sincona sale 102, lot 5262

This specimen was lot 5262 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 140 CHF (about US$211 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Genf/Genève, Stadt und Kanton, 1 Sol 6 Deniers (6 Quarts) 1795, Genf. Wertangabe in 2 Zeilen. FDC. (Switzerland, city and canton of Geneva, Geneva mint, value in two lines. Mint State.)"

The six quarts of 1795 come in two types. The other style for 1795, KM 107, has the value written "UN SOL/6 D" One thaler was 96 sols and one sol was four quarts. The Swiss confederation collapsed in 1795-96 under pressure from revolutionary France, to be superseded by the Helvetian Republic.
