Sincona sale 51, lot 4063

This specimen was lot 4063 in Sincona sale 51 (Zürich, October 2018), where it sold for 500 CHF (about US$603 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"Stadt und Kanton Genf, 2 Quarts (1/2 Sol oder 6 Deniers) 1554, Genf. Münzzeichen G. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Gutes sehr schön. (city and canton of Geneva, two quarts of 1554, Geneva mint. Rare in this condition, Good very fine.)"

Numista lists this type for 1554-57 and 1597-99. One thaler was 96 sols and one sol was four quarts.

Specification: 0.92 g, billon, 18 mm diameter; this specimen 0.88 g.
