Sincona sale 95, lot 4205

This specimen was lot 4205 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 225 CHF (about US$312 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Genf/Genève, Stadt und Kanton, 3 Sols 1555/54, Genf. Mzz. B. Jahreszahl im Stempel aus 1554 geändert. Sehr schön. Exemplar der Auktion NGSA 18, Genf, November 2022, Los 2088. (Switzerland, canton of Geneva, three sols of 1555, Geneva mint, 1555/4 overdate. Very Fine.)"

This type was struck nearly continuously 1554-94. Numista does not mention the overdate or the mintmark clearly visible here. One thaler was 96 sols.

Record mintage: unknown.

Specification: 4.0 g, billon, 26 mm diameter, this specimen 4.10 g.
