from the Stack's Bowers 2024 ANA sale, lot 47375

This specimen was lot 47375 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Gelderland. Gulden, 1786. Harderwijk Mint. NGC MS-62." This type is recorded for 1760-65 and 1786-95 and was minted in some numbers but is not often seen today. Similar coins are known for Holland, Overijssel, Utrecht and Westfriesland. The SCWC lists two mintmarks for this date; a tree stump (KM 100.1) and an ear of wheat (KM 65.7). The mint in Harderwijk closed in 1802.
