Gelderland 1761 ducaton Dav-1824
This specimen was lot 1911 in Jean Elsen sale 149 (Brussels, December 2021), where it sold for €280 (about US$379 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"NEDERLAND, GELDERLAND, Provincie, AR dukaton (zilveren rijder), 1761. Vz/ Ridder te paard n.r. boven gekroond provinciewapen. Kz/ Gekroond Generaliteitswapen gehouden door twee leeuwen. Gereinigd. Zeer Fraai. (Netherlands, province of Gelderland, silver ducaton of 1761. Obverse: mounted knight charges over the crowned provincial arms; reverse: crowned arms of the Generality supported by two lions. Cleaned, Very Fine.)"
This type was struck 1704-07, 1711-12, 1717, 1720-23, 1730, 1733-40, 1744, 1759-67, 1773-75, 1785, 1789-92 and the late dates are common.
