This type was struck in Frankfurt in 1862-65, just prior to that city's annexation by Prussia. The previous thaler (Dav-649) had a slightly different hairstyle. This date is common. Double thalers exist (Dav-651) and are even more common.

Recorded mintage: 312,000.

Specification: 18.52 g, 0.900 fine silver, 33 mm diameter, lettered edge.
