Ponterio sale 169, lot 22172

This specimen was lot 22172 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $338. The catalog description^[1] noted, "GERMANY. Frankfurt. Taler, 1863. NGC MS-63. Assembly of Princes. Toned." This type was struck 1857-58 and is rather scarce compared to other Frankfurt thalers of the 1860's.

Recorded mintage: 20,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 18.52 g, 0.900 fine silver.
