This specimen was lot 22583 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $552. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Frankfurt. Gulden, 1863. PCGS MS-66 Secure Holder. Wonderfully preserved with russet and blue-green tone over the minimally handled surfaces. A scarcer two year type." This type was struck 1863-63 and is expensive. Frankfurt was annexed to Prussia in 1866, ending a thousand years of independence.
