Jean Elsen sale 158, lot 1826

This specimen was lot 1826 in Jean Elsen sale 158 (Brussels, March 2024), where it sold for €1,650 (about US$2,146 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"FRANCE, Cinquième République (1959-), AV 200 euro, 2014. Centenaire de la Grande Guerre - Taxis de la Marne. Ecrin et certificat n° 102. Titre 0,999. Flan poli. (France, Fifth Republic, since 1959, gold 200 euro of 2014, centennial of the Great War--the taxis of the Marne. With box and certificate, Proof.)"

All the NCLT's of this denomination issued in 2014 were one ounce gold. Topics included the FIFA World Cup (KM 2170), Year of the Horse (KM 2131), Ariane launch (KM 2139), Louis XIV (KM 2148), World War I taxis (shown here) and Baccarat crystal (KM 2184).
