The specimen shown is an example of a type struck in France 1999-2006. France began minting euros in 1999. The hexagon on the obverse, also used on the two euro coin, refers to a common nickname for metropolitan France.

Specification: 7.5 g., Bi-Metallic Copper-Nickel center in Brass ring, 23.3 mm diameter. Obv: Stylized tree divides RF within circle, date below by Joaquin Jimenez; Rev: Denomination and map by Luc Luycx; Edge: Reeded and plain sections.
