Stack's Bowers May 2023 Collector's Choice sale, lot 72090

This specimen was lot 72090 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2023), where it sold for $1,320. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Gold 100 Francs, 2000. Paris Mint. NGC PROOF-70 Ultra Cameo. Featuring the Marianne bust designed by Lagriffoul, this alluring specimen resides at perfection, offering flawless fields that form a delightful cameo contrast with the frosted devices." Other 100 francs struck in 2000 included KM 951.1, 1195, 1232, 1233, 1234, 1238, 1239, 1240, 1241, 1242, 1243, 1264, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1978, 1979 and KM 1980.

Recorded mintage: 1,000, proofs only.

Specification: 17 g, 0.920 fine gold, 0.5028 troy oz AGW.
