This specimen was struck for France at the Paris mint in 1986. It was accompanied by a circulating commemorative honoring statesman Robert Schuman (KM 958). It was aggressively downsized from the previous aluminum bronze type (KM 940) and massively rejected by the public. It was recalled and demonetized the next year. It is called the "Jimenez" type after its designer, who was not responsible for the new module.
Recorded mintage: 87,942,011 plus 3,850 proofs.
Specification: 6.5 g, nickel, 21 mm diameter, designed by Joaquin Jimenez.
