This specimen is from the regular series struck 1974-87. It is known as the "Mathieu" ten francs after its designer. Another ten francs struck in 1984 was a commemorative honoring sculptor François Rude (1784-1855). This module was last used in 1988 and the franc retired in favor of the euro in 2002. This type was demonetized in 1991.

Recorded mintage: 40,001,847.

Specification: 10 g, copper-nickel, 26 mm diameter, plain edge, design by Georges Mathieu (1921-2012).
