This specimen was lot 71427 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $600. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Empire. Demi Franc (1/2 Franc), 1809-K. Bordeaux Mint. Napoleon I. PCGS AU-55. On the cusp of Mint State status, this alluring specimen presents some hints of brilliance emerging from among the golden and gray toning. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Claude Silberstein in Paris on 21 October 1985 for $91)." This type was struck 1809-14. It was demonetized in 1869. The catalog[2] notes 64 date-mintmark combinations for the type, most scarce and some very rare.

Recorded mintage: 42,716[2], a scarce date.

Specification: 2.5 g, 0.900 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, plain edge. Designed by Pierre Joseph Tiolier, 1763-1819.
