This specimen was lot 71426 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $65. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Empire. Demi Franc (1/2 Franc), 1809-B. Rouen Mint. Napoleon I. PCGS Genuine--Holed, Fine Details. Though holed, this circulated minor offers a chance at slightly SCARCER type at a much more affordable bid level. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Bill Applegate at Grand Central Numismatic Convention in New York City on 6 November 1980 for $2)." This type was struck 1809-14. It was demonetized in 1869. The catalog[2] notes 64 date-mintmark combinations for the type, most scarce and some very rare.

Recorded mintage: 14,000[2], a very scarce date.

Specification: 2.5 g, 0.900 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, plain edge. Designed by Pierre Joseph Tiolier, 1763-1819.
