This specimen was lot 33579 in Heritage sale 3106 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $1,620. The catalog description[1] noted, "France: Louis XV gold 2 Louis d'Or 1760/59-(cow) AU55 NGC, Pau mint, Louis d'Or au bandeau. From the French province of Béarn, a gently circulated, lovely example with much remaining struck detail and the typical obverse adjustment marks not detracting from the visual appeal. The reverse is particularly gratifying with delicious tangerine toning and flares of mint luster crackling in the peripheries." This is a common date of a common mint for this type, which was struck at that Pyrenean mint 1742-70.

Recorded mintage: 77,344[2].

Specification: 16.31 g, 0.917 fine gold, reeded edge, designed by J.-C. Röettiers.

Catalog reference: Dr/4 № 792a, Dr/2 № 542a, KM 522, Fr-463, Gad-346a (R).
