France 1760-Pau ecu

This specimen was lot 1705 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €240 (about US$310 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"KÖNIGREICH Louis XV, 1715-1774. Ecu au bandeau 1760, Pau. Vorzüglich. (kingdom of France, Louis XV, 1715-74, écu of the ribbon of 1760, Pau mint. Extremely fine.)"
The Pau mint struck this type 1741-72. The early mintages were small but accelerated until Pau became one of the leading producers of the type. The date is neither rare nor common.

Specification: 29.45 g, 0.917 fine silver, 39 mm diameter.
