This specimen was lot 33578 in Heritage sale 3106 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $2,640. The catalog description[1] noted, "France: Louis XV gold 2 Louis d'Or 1760-BB MS61 NGC, Strasbourg mint. A splendid, harvest gold and Mint State specimen with some notable adjustment marks on both facets which retain much of the originality and mint-fresh, attractive shimmer." This type was struck 1742-73 in some numbers but the Strasbourg mint issued this type 1742-49, 1756-64, 1766-72 only. Strasbourg's location near the border with Germany made it a major producer of this type struck for soldier's pay.
